These were common once in Europe,the hand is holding a piece of fruit and sometimes referred to as the hand of Fatima used symbolically to ward off evil spirits.

This one is very rusted,the bolt is rusted and doesn’t turn,the hand end is connected to a rod piece that does fold,there is no door plate piece so it’s more decorative than practical.

Approximately 240mm long when extended,rusty but a nice old thing.
